Researchers interested in visiting the archives or contacting an archivist regarding our collections should register via the access form.
Advance appointments to access archival collections are to be set up via the access form. Additional requests may be placed by email (localhistory@pwpl.org) or by phone: (516) 883-4400, x1803. Please be as descriptive as possible in identifying the materials you are interested in viewing when you make your appointment (collection name, box number, etc.). Finding aids for each collection can be found on our Collection Guide.
Archives staff will determine which materials can be made available for use and when surrogates must be used in lieu of originals.
Please inform The History Center of your intentions to publish or cite materials from the collections by specifying the item(s) cited and the title, publisher, publication date of the impending work.
Manuscript collections and archival records may contain materials with sensitive or confidential information. Researchers are advised that the disclosure of certain information pertaining to identifiable living individuals without the consent of those individuals may have legal ramifications.
Researchers are reminded that it is their obligation to comply with copyright law or other use restrictions when publishing or otherwise using materials from the Library’s collections.
Any requests for duplication of materials are at the discretion of the Archivist. Fees for duplicating materials may apply.
