Welcome to the History Center Archives and Special Collections! Our mission is to promote, preserve and foster Port Washington’s community heritage. Our Archive houses significant materials relating to our town’s heritage as well as various thematic special collections. The History Center is comprised of two main collecting areas: Institutional Archives, which contain records about the history¬† and operations of the Port Washington Public Library and also contains photographs, newspapers, yearbooks and memorabilia. Special Collections includes materials in various formats and subject areas relating to Port Washington, New York and its broader environs. You can also explore our expanding collection of digitized materials. We hope you enjoy discovering the history of our unique town.
