Welcome to the History Center Archives and Special Collections! Our mission is to promote, preserve and foster Port Washington’s community heritage. Our Archive houses significant materials relating to our town’s heritage as well as various thematic special collections. The History Center is comprised of two main collecting areas: Institutional Archives, which contain records about the history and operations of the Port Washington Public Library, as well as photographs, newspapers, yearbooks and memorabilia. Our Special Collections include materials in various formats and subject areas relating to Port Washington, New York and its broader environs.
